    Julia Carlson is a student at Purchase College, majoring in New Media and Visual Arts with a focus in Printmaking. She studies media and how it relates to social issues, with a focus on gender and our relationship to nature. She creates art to help people access unaddressed aspects of their mind, with the goal to inspire curiosity. She uses subtle details and framing to encourage engaged viewing. She challenges assumptions in her work through disorientation. She works in multiple mediums including video, sound, photography, painting, and printmaking.
